As a part of the Children’s Day celebration, C-Park conducted a Virtual Poster Art Contest for Children’s Homes in Chennai between 14th November 2021 and 20th November 2021. The main objective of this competition was to make children learn and understand the art of finding happiness in little things and to bring it out in the form of art. The theme of the contest was “What makes you Happy?”
Seven orphanages actively participated in the competition namely; Greater Love Children Home, Anaikkum Karangal, Children’s Home of Hope, Open Door Orphanage, Avvai Home & Orphanage, Nalmanam, and Nava Jeevan Vikas. Volunteers of C-Park visited the orphanages situated in various locations in Chennai and distributed the necessary art materials. The children in the orphanages were happy to receive it and very excited to showcase their talents.
We categorized the contest into 3 Age groups and gave topics accordingly. Children between the ages of 5 and 9 had to make creative compliment cards for their Caregivers. The children belonging to Avvai Home and Orphanage won this category by emotionally expressing their affection and respect towards their Caregivers. The next category was for ages 10 to 13 and they had to portray the daily activities that make them and their friends happy. Children from Nava Jeevan Vikas sketched their ideas beautifully and won the prize.
The final Age group was from 14 to 18. Children in this category were asked to draw all the achievements that give them happiness. Children from Greater Love Children Home depicted some unique ways to find happiness in achievements and won this category. We extend our gratitude to Father William for judging the contest and making it possible for us to reward children for their creative works. C-Park awarded the winners with exciting cash prizes and as a token of appreciation, gift hampers were provided to all the children in the 7 Orphanages.
The competition was indeed a satisfying event for us as we could bring smiles to their faces. C-Park congratulates all the winners and appreciates every child’s effort and contribution towards the competition. We wish them all the very best in everything they do.
